Millions protest against the war in more than 600 cities.
February 15, 2003 - Oak Park, IL - Confronting America's countdown to war, throngs of chanting, placard-waving demonstrators converged on New York and scores of cities across the United States, Europe and Asia today in a global daisy chain of largely peaceful protests against the Bush administration's threatened invasion of Iraq.
UK, Spain, and Italy, three European countries whose governments have supported Bush's rush to war saw the largest protests (of any kind) in their recorded political histories. The following is a partial list of early figures based on news reports and official estimates:
- New York: 350,000 to 1/2 million
- Rome: more than 1.5 Million
- London: more than 1 million
- Barcelona: 1 million
- Madrid: 1 million
- Berlin: 1/2 million
- Paris: 300,000
- Melbourne: 200,000
