An action with about 40 people in the freezing cold at the Kluckinsky Federal Building .
January 19, 2003 - - Hello everybody, I thought I'd share this with you.
I was downtown Chicago today so I went over to the Kluckinsky Federal
Building and participated in an action with about 40 people in the freezing
cold. It's a group of religious oriented folks around the 8th Day Center for
Peace and Justice I think. They've been having vigils there since right
after 9/11. Anyway I joined the pot-bangers and we banged and banged and
made a pretty good racket there on the sidewalk while a small group
attempted to enter the building to see U.S. Senator Pete Fitzgerald and were
blocked and then kneeled down inside the lobby and then were gently dragged
off and were taken into custody by the building police as the TV camera from
Channel 7 took it all in. It was pretty disruptive, with security reducing
the entrance to this huge building to just one door and making everybody
coming in show their identification. Hundreds of people saw us and our
signs. And I think I'll be on TV tonight.
For a New Democracy,
