Inner Peace/World Peace Bibliography

Last updated: July 25, 2003

“I like to believe that people in the long run are going to do more to promote peace than our governments. Indeed, I think that people want peace so much that one of these days governments had better get out of the way and let them have it.”

Dwight D. Eisenhower (1890 - 1969)

This bibliography was compiled as a resource for the weekly Inner Peace/World Peace gatherings on Saturday morning at First United Church, in Oak Park, Illinois.  The citations here have been contributed by people attending those gatherings, by those working in peace and justice movements.  Special thanks to Anthony Nicotera, Chaplain and adjunct professor at DePaul University in Chicago, who teaches Peace Studies at DePaul and who generously shared his bibliography. Also like to thanks to Estelle Carol, of the Oak Park Coalition for Truth & Justice, who shared her extensive bibliography of books on activism and history, and great lists of peace and justice and alternative media websites.

Disclaimer and request for help: This is a work in progress.  We would appreciate factual corrections as well as comments on the classification system.  A few resources will be found in more than one section.  We would also welcome comments by anyone who has personal experience with any of these resources, who would like to share them with the group. If you would like any resources to be included, please contact us by email or fill out our contact form.
